ROLE DESCRIPTION

As an Environmental Trainee, you will participate in a structured one-year training program designed to blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing you for the responsibilities of a Sanitarian. Your duties will encompass a variety of tasks within a specified region, focusing on the enforcement of pertinent regulations during inspections, compliance checks, and enforcement actions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on issues related to private water supplies.
  • Addressing water quality concerns from various departmental programs and governmental agencies.
  • Managing situations arising from environmental challenges such as droughts and floods.

Additional Information:

  • Full-time position with standard working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, including a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Telework Opportunities: After completing the training period, there may be options for remote work, provided you have a secure high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location.
  • Compensation: The starting annual salary for new hires is $44,890 (before taxes).
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Four years of relevant technical experience in fields such as environmental science, engineering, health, geology, biology, or ecology; or
  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education.

Special Requirement: A valid Non-commercial Class C Driver's License is necessary for this position.
