About the Role

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a leading institution in cancer treatment and research, dedicated to providing innovative care to patients with sarcoma and other cancers. As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team that delivers patient-centered care, focusing on the unique needs of sarcoma patients.

This role requires a skilled and compassionate RN to assess, plan, and implement care for patients with sarcoma, working closely with the healthcare team to ensure seamless transitions and optimal outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate patients and families about disease processes, treatment options, and symptom management.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating care with other healthcare professionals, including social workers, home health care, and clinical nutritionists, to ensure comprehensive support for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical, emotional, and social needs, and develop individualized care plans to address these needs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, including information about disease processes, treatment options, and symptom management.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, including social workers, home health care, and clinical nutritionists.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex patient needs and develop effective care plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Preferred:

  • BSN prepared nurse.
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) or BMT RN certification.
  • 2 years of oncology nursing experience.
  • Previous telephone triage experience.
  • Previous outpatient clinic experience.
