Job Summary

As a key member of the St. Bernards Healthcare team, the Registrar is responsible for ensuring the efficient and orderly registration of patients. This involves collecting accurate patient information, making patients aware of hospital policies and procedures, and utilizing patient demographics in the preparation of records and reports. The Registrar works with confidential patient information and requires a high degree of mental alertness and close visual attention to details. This role demands diplomacy and a professional image in dealing with patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and SBMC personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Registration in any area under the direction of the Manager of Admissions
  • Collecting and verifying patient information
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records
  • Preparing records and reports for operating decisions
  • Providing excellent customer service and a positive first impression of SBMC
Requirements

This role requires a minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting, with a high school graduate plus healthcare courses or on-the-job training. Proficient computer, written and verbal communication, telephone, cash handling, and customer service skills are essential. The position also demands normal corrected eyesight, hearing within normal range, frequent walking, pushing wheelchairs up to 350 pounds, and sitting 50% of the time. Occasional lifting, stair climbing, and carrying up to 50 pounds are also required.
