We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center.
Job Summary:
The Surgical Technician will assist the surgical team with various tasks, including preparing for procedures, handling instruments and supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe operating room environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare for scheduled operative procedures by ensuring necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available.
- Assist the surgeon during operations by handing instruments and supplies as needed.
- Maintain aseptic technique and ensure all personnel are accounted for during and after the procedure.
- Clean and sterilize equipment, and restock the OR with standard supplies.
- Transport patients to and from the OR, verifying patient identity and assisting with lifting and positioning.
- Assist with dept in-service education programs and participate in committees as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
- Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
- One to two years of experience as a surgical technician is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for working effectively with nursing and medical staff in stressful situations.
