Job Overview

Position Title: Area Safety Manager

Reports To: Safety Director

Position Summary

The Area Safety Manager is tasked with delivering safety leadership across all project locations within a designated area. This role is crucial for ensuring adherence to corporate safety protocols, executing safety initiatives, and enhancing safety performance through training and engagement with craft personnel regarding our safety philosophy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborates closely with Apache site management and client safety teams to ensure alignment of expectations and activities.
  • Maintains open communication with area and site leadership regarding all safety compliance matters and shares relevant information with direct supervisors.
  • Ensures immediate reporting of all safety-related incidents to supervisors and appropriate management personnel.
  • Handles and safeguards highly confidential information.
  • Conducts or coordinates training for workers on safety regulations, monitoring hazardous conditions, and proper use of safety equipment.
  • Supports area management and their teams by participating in planning, scheduling, and executive meetings.
  • Performs safety audits and inspects facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and rectify potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Investigates workplace accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine root causes and collaborates with project leadership to implement preventive measures and manage return-to-work processes.
  • Provides technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary improvements.
  • Orders and maintains safety inventory for facilities, including supplies and equipment.
  • Oversees other safety personnel and holds them accountable for daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • 7 years of demonstrated experience if a bachelor's degree is not held.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong capability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Highly motivated with excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative team player with effective communication skills to interact with customers, subcontractors, HR, accounting, legal, site management, and others as required.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation and ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership and motivational abilities.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Light physical work that may involve moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to hazardous conditions within client facilities.
  • Travel may be necessary.
