Position Overview

The Accounting Team Leader will oversee the daily accounting operations for our Warehousing and Distribution activities. This role includes ownership of the Month-End close process, ensuring compliance with established accounting practices and timely financial reporting. You will proactively communicate any information impacting monthly or annual estimates to management for accurate financial results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the Accounting Team, ensuring efficient execution of their responsibilities.
  • Guarantee timely completion of the monthly book close in accordance with established protocols.
  • Provide accurate financial results to management within set timelines, highlighting any significant discrepancies.
  • Maintain close communication with various teams to assess the financial implications of operations.
  • Summarize financial results for management, focusing on unusual variances.
  • Streamline processes within the Accounting Team to enhance efficiency in the book close timeline.
  • Review and validate journals, accruals, and reconciliations prepared by the team.
  • Ensure all necessary supporting documentation is included.
  • Assist with internal and external financial audits as required.
  • Foster a supportive environment for team members' career advancement and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Hold regular team meetings to monitor progress and address any challenges.
  • Coordinate with corporate functions as necessary.
  • Manage revenue and expense accruals for unbilled activities.
  • Oversee bad debt calculations and activities.
  • Facilitate intercompany processes with affiliates.
  • Collaborate with the Global Service Centre to reconcile local accounting records.
  • Engage in special projects as directed by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience in a mid to large-sized organization.
  • Experience in a supervisory role is essential.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite is advantageous.
  • This is a full-time hybrid position.
  • Experience working with a Global Service Center is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation in a time-sensitive environment.
  • A collaborative team player who can work effectively with colleagues across functions.
  • Ability to independently manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with proprietary systems.
