Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses in the Sociology discipline's curriculum, including preparation for in-class or online activities, evaluation of student work, and consultation with students.
  • Maintain accurate class records and submit attendance rosters and grade reports as required.
  • Follow course outlines and observe, support, and enforce district regulations, policies, and programs.
  • Provide a written course syllabus to students at the beginning of the course and refer them to college resources for information on counseling and other student services.
  • Assist students by providing advice on requirements for successful achievement in the Sociology discipline.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Sociology or a related field (anthropology, ethnic studies, social work, or psychology).
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Working Conditions

The teaching assignment may require teaching lecture-discussion courses during day, evening, or on Saturday and/or in an online/distance education format. The assignments are based on departmental need on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
