Job Summary:We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach fitness and health courses in a lab setting and gym facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical education, exercise science, or a related field, and be able to create an effective learning environment that enhances student engagement and safety.
Responsibilities:- Teach fitness and health courses in a lab setting and gym facility, including day, night, and weekend shifts.
- Create and promote an effective learning environment to enhance student engagement and safety.
- Assist students of all ages and abilities in program design and development based on student goals and capabilities.
- Demonstrate the use of gym equipment and proper form for weight and/or cardiovascular training.
- Develop syllabuses and Canvas shells as required per institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students on their initial visit to the Fitness Education Center and throughout each quarter.
- Maintain professional knowledge and expertise in the field of fitness and health education.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as necessary.
- Master's in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education.
- OR Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy.
- OR the equivalent.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
