Position Overview

Center for Orthopedic and Research Excel is seeking a dedicated Clinical Support Specialist to join our team in providing exceptional care in our orthopedic facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between patients and healthcare providers by:
    • Collecting and relaying essential information to the provider.
    • Acting on instructions provided by the healthcare team.
  • Prepare patients for their appointments, which includes:
    • Rooming patients and documenting vital signs.
    • Organizing supplies for treatments and procedures.
    • Reviewing and processing intake forms and imaging.
  • Assist with the application and removal of casts, sutures, and staples.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, ensuring they are stocked and sanitized.
  • Monitor and replace biohazard and sharps containers as necessary.
  • Support providers in managing patient prescriptions and completing necessary medical documentation.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and voicemails promptly, documenting interactions in the electronic medical record system.
  • Prepare electronic patient charts following appointments.
  • Oversee inventory management of medical supplies and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
  • Verify and document outstanding test results in the electronic medical record system, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Educate patients about their treatment plans and therapies as directed by the provider.
  • Promote a positive and supportive patient experience.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
  • One to two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • CMA certification is required if lacking prior experience.
  • Must pass the Medical Assistant competency exam within the first two years of employment.
  • At least one active Medical Assistant certification is required within the first two years of employment.
  • BLS certification is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with medical software.
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated compassion and empathy in patient interactions.
