Special Education Support Specialist Role

Columbia Public Schools is in search of dedicated individuals to assist in delivering educational support to students who require special education services.   • Participate in mandatory annual training sessions

Qualifications:

Minimum: Completion of the Substitute Training Course or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Exam, or a minimum of 60 college credits

Preferred: 60 college credit hours with prior experience in an educational environment

Ideal candidates should demonstrate professionalism and possess the ability to thrive in a dynamic setting.

Reporting Structure:

Reports To: Classroom Teacher, Building Principal, and Assistant Director of Special Education

Supervises: None

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift, and assist students with various activities; must have both near and far vision capabilities.

Work Environment:

Engage in a lively and active school atmosphere, including outdoor responsibilities such as supervising recess activities.
