Job Title: Loss Control Inspector Trainee

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Loss Control Inspector Trainee to join our Engineering Team at the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company.

About the Role:

The Loss Control Inspector Trainee will be responsible for conducting inspections of boilers and pressure vessels, as well as providing engineering services and business solutions to our customers. This is a field-based position that requires the ability to work independently and effectively communicate with clients and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of boilers and pressure vessels to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Provide engineering services and business solutions to customers to help them avoid losses and recover from losses that occur
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Team to develop and implement risk management strategies
  • Communicate effectively with clients and customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices to ensure the highest level of service to our customers
Requirements:
  • High school diploma and technical working knowledge of commercial equipment
  • Experience operating, maintaining, or inspecting boilers, pressure vessels, and machinery
  • Basic algebra skills and basic computer knowledge
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms
  • Ability to obtain the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors commission
Preferred Qualifications:
  • National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors Commission
  • Technical College Graduate
  • Engineering degree (BSME, BSEE, or BSChE)
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to crawl through 11" X 15" openings into confined spaces
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders and several stories of stairs
  • Ability to climb and function at heights of at least 30 feet
  • Ability to perform bending, stretching, and twisting motions
  • Ability to withstand temperature variations
  • Ability to walk 3-5 miles
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Visual acuity of 20/20 (natural or corrected) and ability to identify colors
  • Ability to hear (corrected) the sounds of equipment operation

We offer a competitive salary range of $59,900-82,400, plus opportunity for company bonus based on eligible pay. We also provide a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401(k) match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
