Position Overview:
As the Assistant Kitchen Manager, you will oversee and coordinate the kitchen staff in the sourcing, production, preparation, and presentation of all culinary offerings in a safe and sanitary environment, adhering to all standards and regulations while ensuring profitability and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily food production and presentation for the hotel's dining facilities and room service, ensuring consistency and adherence to HEI Franchise standards.
  • Manage human resources within the kitchen, focusing on attracting, retaining, and motivating staff while maintaining a safe work environment. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Oversee the maintenance and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and control labor and food costs, preparing reports and schedules to meet or exceed budgetary goals while maintaining quality.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in developing seasonal and special menus, and assume their responsibilities in their absence.
  • Adhere to attendance policies and be available for regular shifts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of post-secondary education, with culinary training preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in a related role, preferably within a hotel environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of food service principles and practices, including management of personnel and complex food and beverage operations.
  • Familiarity with hotel operations, including marketing, safety programs, and budget management.
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and develop team members to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles for various audiences.
