Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team at Hillsboro R-III School District. As a Speech and Language Pathologist, you will work with students to improve their articulation and/or language skills, providing instruction, guided practice, assessments, remediation, and enrichment through various learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized programs of study to meet the unique needs of students with diverse disabilities.
  • Conduct language and hearing screenings for new students and Kindergarten students, identifying those with speech, language, or hearing difficulties.
  • Model correct sounds, drill, and practice sounds on a weekly basis, developing individualized strategies to remediate errors for all students on caseload.
  • Provide alternative intervention strategies to students, teachers, and parents who have concerns about speech and/or language.
  • Administer tests to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports or conduct meetings to inform parents of progress.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for students, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university or college in the area of Speech Language Pathology.
  • Certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist issued by the State Board of Education or license issued by the State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence, preferred but not required.
Working Conditions

The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and is frequently required to feel, grasp, push, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crawl, perform repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement, and move up or down from/to sitting position.

The employee is regularly exposed to varying inclement outdoor weather conditions while on recess duty and may be exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
