Senior Manufacturing Engineering Leader

Position Overview:
Navistar is in search of a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Leader to enhance our team at the Powertrain Manufacturing Facility.


This role will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will be instrumental in supporting the production of our newly introduced transmission system.

In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with Research & Development, Quality Assurance, and production teams to refine existing manufacturing methodologies and ensure that the systems are producing products that meet specified standards.

The facility operates on a 4x10 production schedule (Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM).

This position will support production efforts and may require involvement during recovery times, including weekends as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and sustain methodologies, operational sequences, and processes for the manufacturing of components, sub-assemblies, and final products.

2. Conduct research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, focusing on production flow, assembly techniques, and equipment.

3. Maintain comprehensive records and reporting systems to coordinate manufacturing operations.

4. Estimate manufacturing costs, establish time standards, and provide recommendations for tooling and process requirements for both new and existing product lines.

5. Interpret blueprints and provide technical expertise to the quality department.

6. Address machinery uptime challenges and drive towards sustainable, cost-effective solutions.

7. Standardize manufacturing processes by benchmarking against other facilities.

8. Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including goal setting, team training, and results evaluation.

9. Assist in achieving plant quality objectives.

10. Follow up on the implementation of engineering changes and variations from design specifications, as well as new program developments.

11. Conduct product/process analysis aimed at cost reduction, quality enhancement, and efficiency improvement.

12. Initiate, develop, and pursue capital appropriation projects.

13. Represent manufacturing on cross-functional teams.

14. May mentor, coach, or provide informal guidance to less experienced colleagues.

15. Travel may be required to benchmark other manufacturing locations or to oversee new equipment run-offs (5%-10%).

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree.

2. A minimum of 8 years of experience in product manufacturing.

3. At least 1 year of leadership experience.

OR

1. Master's degree.

2. A minimum of 6 years of experience in product manufacturing.

3. At least 1 year of leadership experience.

OR

1. A minimum of 10 years of experience in product manufacturing.

2. At least 1 year of leadership experience.

Additional Qualifications:


Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.



Desired Skills:
1. Proficient in electric torque-controlled fastening tools.

2. Skilled in press equipment and processes.

3. Experienced in vision system implementation and support.

4. Competent in launching new products within existing production lines.

5. Familiar with project budget maintenance and follow-up.

6. Proficient in developing and maintaining project timelines.

7. Competent in Microsoft Office applications.

8. Experience with robotic assembly systems.

9. Familiarity with CAD and 3D modeling tools, preferably Siemens NX.

10. Knowledge of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).

11. Experience in presenting solutions to quality issues.

12. Ability to address safety and ergonomic challenges in a manufacturing context.

13. Willingness to lead and guide other professionals.

14. Openness to learning from others.
