Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Lead will play a critical role in the planning, development, and implementation of assembly equipment and processes to support the launch of a new powertrain platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Advanced Manufacturing Engineering in assembly layouts, equipment purchase, qualification, and installation
  • Act and represent Navistar in a global production team
  • Be the voice of production to product development
  • Perform research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly sequence, assembly methods, and production equipment investments
  • Standardize manufacturing processes by benchmarking other manufacturing facilities
  • Coordinate pre-series builds and production launch of the new product, including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating and acting on results
  • Assist in the accomplishment of plant quality objectives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in product manufacturing
  • OR
  • Master's degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in product manufacturing
  • OR
  • At least 7 years of experience in product manufacturing

Additional Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) to be employed in the United States
  • Navistar does not anticipate providing employment-related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient with electric torque-controlled fastening tools
  • Proficient with press equipment and processes
  • Proficient with launching new products
  • Competence with launching new products in an existing production line
  • Competence with maintaining and following up on project budgets
  • Competence with developing and maintaining project timelines
  • Competence with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling tools (Siemens NX)
  • Experience with AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles)
  • Experience with presenting resolutions to quality issues
  • Experience with leak testing
  • Experience with Robotic Assembly systems
  • Ability and willingness to lead and guide other professionals or colleagues
  • Ability and willingness to learn from others
