Position Overview

Academia Del Pueblo is a K8 charter school district serving students in the South-Central Phoenix area. We operate under the auspices of Friendly House, Inc., which has been serving the community for over a century.

Our educational philosophy centers on nurturing the whole child by emphasizing academic excellence, leadership development, community engagement, technology integration, extracurricular activities, and a supportive learning environment.


The Middle School 6-8 position entails fulfilling professional responsibilities as required and in accordance with the school's policies under the guidance of the Assistant Principal and Principal.

To be an effective educator, one must demonstrate comprehensive curriculum knowledge, teach and assess proficiently, engage in professional development, and positively influence student learning by aiding them in reaching their academic objectives.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education; Highly Qualified qualification requirements

Minimum Experience: 1-3 years as an elementary teacher

  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • 3 + years as an elementary teacher
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Elementary Education from an accredited institution
  • Arizona State Teaching Certificate
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Highly Qualified qualification requirements
  • Course(s)

Training:
As mandated by the Arizona Department of Education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction tailored to students' abilities to meet Arizona Academic Standards while addressing the diverse physical, mental, social, cultural, and community needs of students.
  • Maintain a thorough and current understanding of various teaching, learning, and behavior management strategies and their effective implementation.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the national curriculum and a variety of assessment requirements and arrangements.
  • Utilize local, national, and statistical data to evaluate teaching effectiveness.
  • Understand the implications of equal opportunities, multicultural education, and inclusion.
  • Create instructional materials for classroom use.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging instructional activities.
  • Foster a positive educational environment conducive to student learning.
  • Achieve course and school-wide student performance objectives.
  • Maintain accurate grade books and perform necessary administrative tasks.
  • Stay informed on current educational topics.
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans.
  • Incorporate various curriculum resources into teaching.
  • Align competencies, goals, and objectives within lesson plans.
  • Implement strategies to encourage student participation.
  • Provide individualized tutoring as needed.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare and submit required reports.
  • Observe and assess student performance.
  • Administer and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address student behavioral and academic challenges.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and resource needs.
  • Employ effective classroom management techniques that promote self-discipline and personal responsibility.
  • Supervise all students during various school activities, including recess, lunch, assemblies, and field trips.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development throughout the academic year.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
