Community Academies of New Orleans (CANO) seeks a dedicated and passionate Special Education Self-Contained Instructor to join our team.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with diverse learning needs. As a Special Education Self-Contained Instructor, you will play a vital role in creating a personalized academic experience for your students. You will collaborate with the Academic Team, parents, and students to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to each student's unique strengths and challenges.

Job Description
  • Collaborate with the Academic Team to design and deliver grade-level curriculum that meets the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Develop and implement IEPs that address the unique needs of each student, including behavioral interventions and accommodations.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to ensure seamless integration of special education services and monitor progress towards IEP goals.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Two years of experience teaching special education.
  • Valid Louisiana state special education certification.
  • Ability to create and implement IEPs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, resourceful, and resilient personality.
Benefits

CANO offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package. We also provide opportunities for professional growth and development through coaching, mentoring, and training programs.
