We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistant Teacher to join our team at Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans. As a vital member of our educational community, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and growth of young children with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans that align with Head Start Philosophy and early childhood development practices.
  • Assist with organizing classroom spaces and materials to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for children.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of activities, including transitions, to promote social-emotional growth and cognitive development.
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers to understand individual child needs and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including progress reports and assessments, to track student growth and development.
Requirements
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or authorized alien, with a minimum age requirement of 20 years.
  • Associate degree (or higher) or 2 years of college credit, including English Composition, Special Education courses, and Mathematics; or Para Pro Assessment results with a minimum score of 450 and a high school diploma.
  • CDA certification and willingness to meet Louisiana State Department of Education and Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans Head Start Program certification standards within one year of employment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with children, families, staff, and community agencies.
