About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. As a key member of our Earth & Environment Team, you will be responsible for delivering geotechnical and geologic projects to our public and private sector clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with needs analyses and client value surveys to align the engineering discipline's function with business and project strategy.
  • Provide engineering and project management services for geotechnical and geologic projects, including transportation, commercial, power, water, and mining projects.
  • Develop a client base for providing high-level geotechnical engineering services and identify additional business development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines, including engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities, on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
  • Remain current in the latest geotechnical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Manage and coordinate project teams, ensuring the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Participate in business development and proposal efforts.
  • Travel to visit clients and project sites, primarily in Texas and Louisiana, approximately 30% overnight.
Requirements
  • BS in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional civil/geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Experience in two or more of the following areas: transportation, commercial, power, water, mining/mine design, foundations, earthen dams, drilling, field investigations, and laboratory testing.
  • Good communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Superior time management, planning, and ability to interact with clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team.
  • Ability to pursue and develop clients in the public or private sectors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
