Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide medical care to patients in a variety of settings, including emergency medical services (EMS) and fire scenes.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and apparatus, including engines, trucks, and rescue vehicles.
  • Participate in fire prevention and education programs to promote fire safety and prevention in the community.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders, including police and ambulance services, to provide a comprehensive response to emergencies.
  • Maintain and operate emergency medical equipment, including defibrillators, oxygen tanks, and stretchers.
  • Document patient care and treatment in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Current certification as a Firefighter II and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required; Paramedic certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Working Conditions

Firefighter-Paramedics work in a variety of settings, including emergency medical services (EMS) and fire scenes. They may be exposed to hazardous materials, extreme temperatures, and physical demands of firefighting and emergency medical services. Firefighter-Paramedics must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
