Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nursing Simulation Technologist to join our team at Unitek Learning. As a key member of our healthcare education organization, you will play a critical role in supporting simulation and skills labs for all nursing programs at our assigned campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment and operation manuals.
  • Program simulator software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor and/or scenario specifications.
  • Operate a variety of computers and technical equipment pertaining to simulation scenarios.
  • Operate and maintain audio-visual and debriefing systems.
  • Support faculty and students with virtual reality equipment and updates.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques, use of tools, and equipment for students during simulation and skills lab exercises.
  • Perform simulation demonstrations and provide orientation, assistance, training, and technical support to instructors on simulation and skills lab procedures, operation of equipment, and location and use of materials.
  • Prepare and maintain simulation and skills lab equipment, manikins, media, audio/visual, computers, and materials related to learning.
  • Develop, explain, and demonstrate instructional best practices for the use of the manikins and equipment to help elevate the simulation experiences of students and faculty.
  • Assist in the development of simulation and skills laboratory manuals.
  • Assist faculty in managing simulation and skills laboratory schedules.
  • Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals, including medication dispensing systems, vital sign monitors, IV pumps and feeding pumps, beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other healthcare equipment.
  • Provide theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested.
  • Provide technical assistance, support, and training to students, faculty, and staff in the use of simulation and skills lab equipment.
  • Enforce the safety and security of the simulation and skills labs according to established procedures, policies, and laws.
  • Ensure that simulation and skills laboratories and other assigned areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and files, including materials and equipment inventories, warranty information, and maintenance records and schedules.
  • Work closely with students, staff, and faculty to solve complex problems, assist in identifying support resources, and install new software and equipment as appropriate.
  • Provide recommendations on equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Proctor exams as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree (AD) in a healthcare field preferred: paramedic, medic, EMT, emergency tech, CNA, or hospital technician preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic environment based on changing policies, procedures, and clinical needs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology preferred.
  • 1-2 years of simulation experience working with simulation in an educational institution or equivalent setting preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred (required to obtain within three years on job, if not certified upon hire).
