Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Atrium Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians and Advanced Care Practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient intake, documentation, and medication administration
  • Perform various clinical and administrative tasks, including appointment scheduling and medical record maintenance
  • Conduct pre-visit planning with the care team and follow established patient intake procedures
  • Administer medications, including injections, and perform vital signs, height, and weight measurements
  • Assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication lists, as well as satisfying health maintenance requirements
  • Perform Point of Care testing (POCT) and other diagnostic testing as needed
  • Utilize standard precautions and comply with relevant regulations and standards
  • Report patient conditions and reactions to the provider and assist with patient inquiries
  • Participate in electronic documentation of care and complete CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests
  • Perform Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care in-office lab procedures
  • Collect specimens of body fluids, complete lab requisitions, and prepare specimens for pick-up
  • Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment
  • Ensure that all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, and that the provider is presented with all test results
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
  • Must maintain current certification
  • Must possess one of the following: completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, Intermediate EMT or Paramedic Program with 3 years prior clinical experience, structured military training, or graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Recognized/certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National HealthCareer Association (NHA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)
