ROLE OVERVIEW

This role is essential in supporting the operational procurement functions at our designated site. The primary responsibility involves transforming purchase requisitions into purchase orders to secure necessary parts and services. Additional tasks include conducting small-scale bids, evaluating quotations, coordinating deliveries, maintaining master data in SAP, and assisting the Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement in strategy implementation and contract management within SAP. Adherence to Röhm America's Procurement Policy and ethical conduct is imperative. The Indirect Buyer will also comply with the ISO Quality and Environmental Management System guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement needs of assigned sites, independently managing purchase requests.
  • Oversee the procurement of MRO items, services, and equipment for minor capital projects, converting electronic requests into purchase orders while utilizing SAP for daily transactions and data maintenance.
  • Select vendors from the approved list, ensuring they can meet Röhm America’s specifications and requirements.
  • Verify that suppliers possess appropriate insurance and safety documentation.
  • Independently conduct tenders below 100M USD and assist the Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement with larger tenders.
  • Engage daily with site personnel, strategic buyers, Accounts Payable, and external suppliers to facilitate procurement processes.
  • Address invoice discrepancies using Invoice Track.
  • Provide training and support for SAP users within the organization.
  • Act as the primary contact and process expert, training site personnel on procurement tools.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement and Lead Buyers in supplier prequalification and Tier Agreement implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with Röhm America’s Purchasing Policy and Procedures.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms to secure competitive costs and quality for small dollar purchases.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently towards set objectives.
  • Comfortable in a high-volume processing role.
  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 2 years of college education, along with 1-3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing context.
  • Familiarity with SAP Materials Management module is preferred.
  • Knowledge of business law, accounting principles, and relevant regulatory standards is advantageous.
  • Decisions requiring higher authority should be escalated to the Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement or Head of Procurement USA.
