About the Role

Zurich is seeking a seasoned Underwriting Manager to lead our Middle Markets team in the Great Lakes region. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing a team of skilled underwriters and developing strategic relationships with brokers and agents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of underwriters in the Great Lakes region, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service and underwriting results.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents, identifying new business opportunities and driving growth in the Middle Markets segment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement underwriting strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage complex underwriting portfolios, ensuring accurate risk assessment and effective risk mitigation.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments, applying this knowledge to inform underwriting decisions and drive business growth.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in underwriting or a related field, with a strong background in property and casualty insurance.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in team management and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business, finance, or risk management.
