Position Summary
Express is seeking a Retail Operations Leader.


The Retail Operations Leader role encompasses two primary objectives: to enhance and oversee all facets of the customer journey and store functionality; and to identify, cultivate, and guide talent within the store team.

This position is accountable for ensuring consistently high-quality customer interactions by applying a hospitality mindset and delivering on the Express brand purpose: We Create Confidence.

We Inspire Self-Expression.

Success in this role will be measured by the quality of talent and customer experiences, as well as productivity and performance against key metrics.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Development
- Attract, nurture, and retain top talent
- Foster an environment that promotes high morale among store associates
- Encourage teamwork and a unified team spirit
- Coach, mentor, and manage performance and development for all associates to promote professional growth
- Establish a succession plan for all roles
- Identify and support the growth of high-performing associates
- Maximize the success of associates to achieve sales goals and enhance customer experiences
- Recruit and hire all store associates

Customer and Associate Experience
- Create a store atmosphere that consistently delivers outstanding customer experiences
- Lead, model, and coach for a consistent focus on customer engagement according to our Customer Experience Philosophy
- Cultivate a culture of proactive customer interaction
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of products, company policies, promotions, and loyalty programs, and lead the team in these areas
- Provide leadership during product launches, visual presentation standards, and other operational initiatives
- Resolve customer issues effectively by identifying root causes and taking initiative to address them
- Drive loyalty and credit card acquisition through an engaged store team
- Ensure a positive in-store experience through adherence to visual standards

Execution
- Analyze business performance and implement clear action plans to optimize results
- Manage all aspects of daily store operations
- Ensure clarity of goals and action plans for all associates
- Direct workload and ensure the execution of plans and strategies across the store
- Ensure compliance with Company Policies and prioritize the safety of associates and customers
- Oversee merchandise flow, including shipment, replenishment, and omni-channel operations
- Optimize sales and operational opportunities by leading associates in executing merchandising strategies and company initiatives
- Ensure effective scheduling with the right associates in the right roles
- Manage controllable expenses and uphold loss prevention and safety standards

Essential Qualifications
- Three to five years of previous store management experience with responsibility for significant annual sales volume
- Proven track record of increasing sales and store profitability
- Demonstrated ability to network, recruit, interview, train, develop, and promote associates
- Willingness to travel periodically for meetings
- Ability to lift medium to large items weighing up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail experience is advantageous
- Strong communication skills with customers, peers, and supervisors
- Demonstrated accountability for sales results
- Collaborative and respectful team player
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple customers and processes simultaneously

Salary Range
$53,000 - $80,000
