Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Director to lead our swim program at the YMCA of Greater Providence. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and managing the program, ensuring it meets national quality standards and exceeds expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise lifeguards and lifeguard trainers, overseeing pool schedules and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Plan and implement aquatic emergency drills, ensuring the well-being of staff and members.
  • Collaborate with Association Branch staff to develop and implement teen and community programs.
  • Develop written goals and objectives annually, aligning with branch results in program and membership areas.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff under direct supervision, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Manage staff schedules, time sheets, and verification of hours worked, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with instructors, team staff, and members, addressing concerns, changes, credits, or transfers in a timely and caring manner.
  • Develop new programs to reflect the needs of the community, ensuring relevance and engagement.
  • Regularly inspect equipment, reporting maintenance needs and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor phone calls, emails, and return messages, responding promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare and manage the yearly budget, monitoring monthly reports and providing supervisor with necessary information for the annual report.
  • Stay up-to-date with YMCA safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and adherence.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification in YMCA Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, and Swim Trainer programs is also required. A First Aid and CPR Certificate, as well as PALS - Principles of Aquatics Leadership, are essential.
