Job Overview

The Electrophysiology Cardiovascular Technician plays a crucial role within the clinical team, focusing on the preparation of patients for invasive cardiac interventions, supporting the healthcare team in hemodynamic assessment during procedures, and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Uphold sterile practices to prepare the procedure room and equipment, ensuring optimal patient care.

2. Oversee equipment functionality, promptly notifying the care team of any discrepancies during procedures.

3. Gather necessary supplies as directed by physicians and nursing staff throughout the procedure.

4. Maintain adequate stock levels in the procedure area, restocking items used during interventions.

5. Engage in product assessments and evaluations.

6. Monitor the number of revolutions during rotablator procedures.

7. Initiate and verify all equipment functionality at the start of each day, addressing any issues immediately.

8. Ensure all monitoring devices, intravascular ultrasound, pacemakers, and IABP pumps are operational, addressing any malfunctions as necessary.

9. Assist in patient transport and transfer to the procedure table.

10. Execute tasks in accordance with established protocols, including:

a. Supporting cardiologists during specialized procedures.

b. Implementing aseptic techniques.

c. Conducting surgical scrubs, gowning, and gloving procedures.

d. Organizing sterile instrument tables and preparing supplies tailored to specific procedures.

e. Assisting in the draping of patients and procedure areas as required.

11. Foster an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and experiences.

12. Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is highly preferred; foreign MDs who have passed the MBBS examination may be considered.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS/RVS) certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a Cardiac Cath or EP lab setting is required.
  • BLS certification is mandatory (Issuing Authority: AHA or Red Cross).
  • ACLS certification is preferred (Issuing Authority: AHA or Red Cross).
