Electrophysiology Registered Nurse

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview: The Electrophysiology Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care while collaborating with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive medical services. This role encompasses evaluating patient needs, planning and executing care, and assessing the effectiveness of medical and nursing interventions in accordance with established healthcare standards. The RN is expected to exhibit leadership, accountability, and a dedication to continuous professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to established Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to meet the diverse needs of patients, addressing all facets of care including physical, emotional, educational, safety, and discharge planning.
  • Employs sound decision-making skills to prioritize patient care and address unit-based challenges.
  • Administers blood and blood products following established protocols.
  • Communicates effectively and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Incorporates patient rights and ethical nursing practices into daily operations.
  • Maintains infection control protocols to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Complies with national patient safety goals.
  • Delegates responsibilities to support staff in line with the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Follows the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Engages in initiatives that promote performance improvement.
  • Completes necessary competency evaluations and participates in required training sessions and meetings.
  • Utilizes cost-effective practices in nursing care.
  • Assumes Charge Nurse duties as needed.
  • Performs additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a valid RN license in New York. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory for RNs hired after a specified date.
  • Knowledge of contemporary nursing practices and trends in patient care. A minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience is preferred, with exceptions for specific areas.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is essential.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required for all RNs, with specific timelines for newly hired nurses.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is necessary for RNs in designated departments, with timelines for certification completion.
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required for RNs in certain units, with specific timelines for certification.
  • RNs providing direct oncology care must possess specific cancer-related certifications or complete ongoing education requirements.
  • Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department must complete de-escalation training within a specified timeframe.
  • Successful completion of the Department and Unit Orientation Program is mandatory.
