Patient Admissions Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Admissions Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of patient intake and admissions. This includes managing calls and referrals, scheduling assessments, verifying benefits, and ensuring timely completion of pre-certifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
During the assigned shift, the supervisor will:
- Plan, assign, and oversee duties to maintain patient safety and departmental efficiency.
- Assess potential admissions based on patient needs and the facility's ability to provide appropriate care.
- Utilize knowledge of environment management to enhance patient experience.
- Apply clinical assessment skills to identify diagnoses and interventions required for patients.
- Coordinate with the financial department to guarantee timely and accurate patient financial counseling.
- Foster a collaborative environment by guiding and supporting staff, promoting trust and teamwork.
- Ensure compliance with EMTALA regulations by maintaining accurate logs for each patient admitted.
- Participate in the training of new admissions staff as a mentor.
- Communicate any challenges encountered during the shift to the appropriate leadership.
- Exhibit a professional and empathetic demeanor towards patients, addressing and resolving any complaints effectively.
- Recognize that patient safety is paramount in all operations.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant social service field is preferred. A Master's degree or RN designation is also preferred. In certain states, a registered nurse must possess an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year in a healthcare admissions role is preferred.
- Supervisory experience in a healthcare admissions environment is also preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification are preferred, with training provided upon hire. First aid certification may be required based on state regulations.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position typically requires availability on weekends.
COMPENSATION:
The base pay range is competitive and commensurate with experience, with additional shift differentials and weekend option pay available.
