The GI LAB RN is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the Shift Nursing Supervisor. The role involves delivering direct and indirect patient care for Medical-Surgical Outpatients and/or Inpatients receiving surgical and/or invasive procedures through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adolescents, adults, and older adults.

The RN will communicate with physicians, co-workers, and/or nursing directors about patients' clinical conditions, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. They will respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

The RN will work with other departments to provide a continuum of care and collaborate with co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow, and unit maintenance and organization.

The RN is responsible for adherence to regulations, standards, and hospital or unit policies and procedures. They will participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services.

The RN will act as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current

  • Completed Moderate Sedation competency within 30 days upon hire required
