Position Summary:
The Facilities Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and comfort of our residents. This position entails executing regular maintenance duties, responding to urgent repairs, and supervising the overall management of the facility. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in maintenance, outstanding problem-solving abilities, and a caring demeanor when interacting with elderly residents. The Facilities Manager will report directly to the Administrator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance on all appliances within the facility.
- Ensure all housekeeping and landscaping equipment is safe and operational.
- Oversee staff under their supervision.
- Coordinate and monitor external maintenance services (e.g., window cleaning, pest control, painting).
- Maintain the facility grounds in a clean, presentable, and functional condition.
- Organize the setup and breakdown of equipment for facility events.
- Train new employees in landscaping and future facility management practices.
- Report any suspicions or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment, or neglect as per Personnel Policies.
- Intervene in situations that involve unsafe or inadequate care and report immediately to the Administrator.
- Respond promptly to emergency call systems, telephones, and paging systems.
- Participate in all scheduled team meetings and other community-wide meetings as requested.
- Engage in both voluntary and mandatory ongoing education and in-service training.
- Utilize effective verbal and non-verbal communication to convey information positively and non-threateningly.
- Adhere to infection control principles by understanding the infectious process and modes of disease transmission, employing appropriate handwashing techniques.
- Maintain a safe environment by: ensuring the community is safe, clean, and comfortable; recognizing environmental safety hazards; understanding methods to prevent workplace accidents and injuries; using safe practices when oxygen is in use; identifying and following the community's disaster plans; describing and adhering to the community's fire procedures, including the operation of fire extinguishers and fire prevention strategies; planning for the safe use and maintenance of equipment; and practicing good infection control procedures.
- Provide basic emergency care as dictated by the residents' needs, including basic first aid.
- Keep storage areas, pantries, and storage bins organized and compliant with state regulations.
- Notify the Administrator of any necessary repairs to community-owned property.
- Alert the Administrator to any inappropriate staff behavior.
- Complete assignments in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Accurately complete all reports and documentation.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the Administrator.
Required Qualifications, Education, & Skills:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass criminal background checks via DOJ and FBI prior to employment.
- Must be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks, verified by a health screening conducted by a physician within six months prior to or seven days following employment. Must test free from pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of health screening.
- Able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English at a minimum of 8th-grade proficiency.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills with management, professional, and support staff are required.
- Exhibit a positive and energetic attitude.
- Maintain professionalism in appearance and conduct.
- Possess a current Adult First Aid card at the time of employment (or obtain within the first four weeks of employment) and maintain it throughout employment.
- Must have reliable transportation and be available to work varying hours as needed.
