Safety Engineer Job Description

BELL Construction is seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and monitor compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Develop and update site-specific safety plans in collaboration with project teams.
  • Facilitate a culture of safety through effective communication and management practices.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and document hazards found.
  • Develop and maintain emergency planning documentation.
  • Lead the implementation and coordination of site safety committees.
  • Develop and conduct jobsite safety orientations for all personnel.
  • Coordinate and monitor project team and trade partner safety inspection activities.
  • Recognize and encourage safe actions and conditions through effective interaction and feedback.
  • Exemplify being a trusted advisor by communicating safety tips and best practices.
  • Conduct site walks to observe, learn, and grow the safety culture.
  • Ensure implementation of trade-specific safety plans and Safe Start meetings.
  • Track and record health and safety incidents and assist with incident investigations.
  • Assist with onsite injuries, required documentation, and case management.
  • Maintain a safe work atmosphere by building relationships with clients, subcontractors, co-workers, and management.
  • Advise Project Managers and Superintendents on job site hazards, employee training, and safe equipment operation.
  • Review, monitor, and provide feedback on work plans and activities for safety-related concerns.
  • Accompany clients, partners, and regulatory agency personnel on jobsite inspections and visits.
  • Assist project teams with planning for special events.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, or related field.
  • One (1) year safety experience in commercial construction or related field.
  • Industry training/certification preferred – CSP, ASP, GSP, CHST, or CIH.
Preferred Skills:
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
  • Previous experience using Viewpoint & Bluebeam.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Public speaking.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and leadership skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality at all times.
