Your Role:
- Establish the Functional Safety framework for Internal Combustion Engine products.
- Develop and implement ISO26262 work products and requirements.
- Conduct OBD 3-Step development for various Functional Safety diagnostics.
- Offer technical guidance on the application of ISO26262 across multiple engine programs.
- Utilize your expertise as an Automotive Safety Systems Engineer to perform standard safety analyses, applying functional safety standards to provide insights and recommendations to engineering design teams regarding safety findings and necessary design modifications to enhance automotive embedded safety systems.
- Oversee overall Functional Safety for gasoline, diesel, and CNG engines.
- Lead the safety planning process and guide the project team through all phases of safety engineering, including requirements gathering, item definitions, preliminary hazard analysis, risk assessment, functional safety concept development, technical safety concept formulation, item integration, and safety validation.
- Conduct technical analyses and present findings to support the development of safety concepts and documentation of safety cases, including hazard and risk assessments, hazard metric translations, safety goal definitions, ASIL decomposition, FMEA, and FTA analyses.
- Collaborate with software design teams to develop effective technical solutions, ensuring that all safety requirements are robust at the system, hardware interface, and software architectural levels.
- Analyze and define functional safety requirements based on customer needs, considering constraints and safety standards as primary objectives.
- Perform design analyses to support the development of safety case arguments for electronic stability controllers.
- Create and update hazard and risk analyses, safety plans, and functional and technical safety concepts.
- Specify safety requirements and concepts for systems and components.
- Assist in defining and specifying safety requirements for hardware and software architectures.
- Evaluate whether system designs and architectures can meet requirements, considering hardware-software components, interfaces, and functional and environmental dependencies, utilizing a foundational understanding of computer and vehicle networks, hardware, and software design.
- Work closely with the design team to create effective technical solutions that ensure compliance with ISO26262 at the system, hardware, and software architectural levels.
- Lead and support Safety Assessment Reviews conducted by safety assessors.
- Conduct safety analyses using standard deductive (FMEA, FMEDA) and inductive (H&R, FTA) methods, with outcomes informing system design and architecture decisions.
- Support safety verification and validation activities.
- Participate in customer and supplier safety review meetings.
- Engage actively in product development, including planning and monitoring safety plans and their validation testing.
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, Physics, or a related field, combined with development engineering experience in embedded control systems.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a safety analyst in the automotive sector is preferred.
- Experience with Embedded Electronic Control systems (e.g., Brake, Airbag, Steering) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with safety applications according to ISO Client 26262 standards or IEC 61508 standards is preferred.
- A solid understanding of embedded software and hardware engineering domains is beneficial.
- Experience in automotive product engineering within product development with OEMs is preferred.
