Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of a senior engineer or lead technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing innovative prototype models, enhancing current products, creating new packaging designs, and constructing basic testing apparatus.
  • Conducting performance and safety evaluations on both new and existing products according to established protocols, utilizing various testing methodologies such as pressure analysis, friction assessment, moisture vapor transmission evaluation, and impact testing.
  • Executing fundamental laboratory tasks, including measuring ingredients, mixing compounds, and performing pH assessments.
  • Assisting in initial production runs, which include assembly, packaging, inspections, testing, and documentation under the guidance of a supervisor.
  • Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and overseeing routine maintenance of lab equipment, including performing basic repairs and coordinating larger repair tasks with supervisory assistance.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess:

  • A foundational understanding of safety protocols related to electrical equipment usage.
  • Knowledge of various materials, including wood, metal, textiles, adhesives, fasteners, foams, gels, films, and composites.
  • Proficiency in hand and machine sewing for prototyping and production purposes, along with an understanding of sewing machine operation.
  • The ability to contribute innovative ideas to enhance project outcomes and improve laboratory organization and workflows.
  • Competence in safely utilizing hand tools and common power tools (e.g., drill press, band saw, grinder) for material conversion.
  • Skills in data entry, basic statistical analysis, and the creation of simple visual representations such as graphs and charts; capability to draft initial protocols and reports.
