Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Duration: 6 months (Contract, Full-Time)

Location: Onsite

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain safety equipment inventory, perform periodic safety inspections, monitor hazardous waste removal vendors, and assist in consolidating hazardous wastes (chemical, radioactive, and/or medical).
  • Interact with various departments, conduct training in emergency response and hazardous material handling.
  • Monitor environmental compliance and maintain liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Recommend corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist.
  • Interact with others in the administration of the worker's compensation program and the implementation of workplace ergonomics and program solutions.
  • Monitor industrial health compliance.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires knowledge acquired through experience, specialized education, or training.
  • The role has clearly defined procedures and tasks as well as defined guidelines to aid in decision making.
  • The job requires a basic understanding of work routines and procedures in own discipline.
  • The technical procedures for this level are well defined.
  • The job works within well-defined procedures that may involve a variety of work routines.
  • This job typically requires a minimum of 2 or more years of experience.
