Key Responsibilities
The RN Team Leader serves as both a formal and informal leader within the unit. Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with management to facilitate daily planning and coordination of the assigned work unit.
  • Delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal responsibility, and resource availability.
  • Providing leadership through staff development, teaching, precepting, committee involvement, quality improvement initiatives, and participation in evidence-based practice and research.
  • Ensuring coordination of nursing care, which encompasses direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
  • Supporting professional nursing practice across various settings to meet the needs of patients and families.

The Team Leader operates within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.

Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates must be graduates of a baccalaureate nursing program and possess at least one year of RN experience in a relevant care setting.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, making informed decisions to optimize work unit efficiency.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Adaptability to unpredictable situations in the workplace.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, with prior experience in electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the specialty area relevant to the work unit.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, typically Monday through Friday, with potential on-call responsibilities.

Licensure and Certification
Current RN licensure in Florida is required, along with Basic Life Support certification upon hire. Additional specialty certifications or training may be required based on the work area.

Compensation and Benefits

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Weekend responsibilities are not applicable.
