Position Overview
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the upkeep of the existing quality management system, assessment of customer quality specifications, effective problem resolution, collaboration with customers and suppliers to address issues, conducting internal quality audits, and supporting supplier auditing and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend customer meetings as necessary, including follow-ups on customer concerns and rejects.
- Conduct scrap analyses and document findings in a standardized format.
- Participate in problem-solving teams or special projects, such as launch teams, Six Sigma initiatives, and Lean Manufacturing efforts.
- Assist in training and developing hourly staff on quality standards.- Aid in the investigation of product defects and recommend modifications to products, processes, and quality standards as needed.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and plant personnel.
- Monitor the performance of internal quality systems and provide findings and recommendations to the Quality Manager and relevant plant staff.
- Support the documentation and submission of PPAP for new and modified products.- Help maintain the Corrective/Preventive Action System.
- Contribute to the implementation of best practices in processes and procedures.
- Assist the Quality Manager as required.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- Strong team leadership capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Competent in the use of personal computers, software, and systems.
- In-depth knowledge of PPAP, APQP, DOE, SPC, and 8D methodologies.
- Familiarity with customer standards and requirements.
- Proficient in GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
- Understanding of quality systems, practices, and principles.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, or
- Professional Engineering certification with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or
- At least 7 years of quality engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience with engineering-related computer systems and capabilities is preferred (2D CAD, CAE, Creo, MAGMA, etc.).
