This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team at Tufts Medical Center as a certified medical assistant. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our physicians in providing exceptional service.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled medical assistant to work closely with our healthcare professionals in providing professional and non-professional nursing care services. You will be responsible for controlling and monitoring patient flow, communicating delays to patients and providers, and responding to variations in patient volume and provider availability.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare medical records for patient visits, confirming accuracy with patient identifiers and entering chief complaints and social history.
  • Exercise excellent customer service in all interactions with patients, internal, and external customers, providing a safe, comfortable, and clean environment for patients and families.
  • Assist providers, patients, and their families with admitting patients into the hospital, making out clothing lists, and facilitating smooth transitions to inpatient units.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for provider visits, checking to ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety.
  • Ensure patient and personal safety by determining fall risk and implementing appropriate measures, and may sit with patients who need monitoring.
  • Prepare exam rooms according to patient needs, assist and/or chaperone providers/nursing with physical exams, treatments, and procedures as necessary.
  • Perform and record vital signs, review medication lists with patients, and collect specimens and/or ensure necessary supplies and equipment are ready for providers.
  • May perform Point of Care Testing (POC) and phlebotomy as required.
  • Assist in arranging diagnostic testing, surgery, and in-patient admissions under the direction of nurses or physicians.
  • Support patient billing by ensuring CPT codes, diagnosis codes, and all supplies and procedures are indicated on charting.
