Position Overview:

The Anesthesia Equipment Specialist is responsible for the acquisition, preparation, setup, and maintenance of anesthesia apparatus utilized in the administration of anesthesia for both standard and intricate surgical procedures.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct functional assessments of anesthesia devices during assigned shifts.
  • Prepare, configure, and calibrate anesthesia machinery in designated operating rooms prior to scheduled surgical interventions.
  • Ensure the availability of all necessary anesthesia equipment and supplies in each assigned operating room or related area.
  • Clean, disinfect, stock, and maintain routine anesthesia tools and materials in compliance with infection control protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain standardized anesthesia carts to guarantee that appropriate equipment and supplies are accessible to anesthesia providers.
  • Transport anesthesia equipment to and from designated work areas as required.
  • Remove and disinfect all special and reusable materials post-surgery in accordance with infection control policies.
  • Regularly inspect anesthesia equipment and monitors to ensure they are in proper working order.
  • Organize and maintain the anesthesia workroom, supplies, and equipment, regularly checking stock items for compliance with shelf life.
  • Respond to emergency requests for anesthesia supplies and equipment replacements during procedures.
  • Identify malfunctioning equipment and perform basic troubleshooting, reporting any defects to the appropriate technical repair personnel.
  • Document and maintain records of preventative maintenance and quality checks.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a regular schedule for the maintenance and calibration of monitors used in anesthesia administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

Option I: Two (2) years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician in a healthcare environment, defined as acquiring, preparing, setting up, and maintaining anesthesia equipment for both routine and complex surgical cases.

Option II: Completion of an accredited Anesthesia Technology program.


Certificates and Licenses:

Applicants must provide evidence of required certifications at the time of application. Certificates must be issued by an accredited program recognized by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT).


Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, squat, twist, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing over 25 pounds.

The eligible register resulting from this examination will be utilized to fill vacancies as they arise within the Department of Health Services.
