Job Overview

Firefighters & Company Federal Credit Union is in search of an Accounting and Finance Specialist to enhance our financial operations. This role plays a pivotal part in the evolution and execution of accounting methodologies that ensure a robust accounting framework and its associated functions. The specialist will engage in various accounting activities within the credit union.

The responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing internal accounting processes, including the preparation and assessment of financial ratios related to liquidity, stability, and credit quality.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Ensuring the prompt and precise balancing and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and other critical records.
  • Generating financial reports that comply with all relevant legal standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

The role requires the establishment, coordination, and upkeep of an accounting system that accurately reflects the financial standing of the credit union.

Support the Chief Financial Officer in delivering timely and precise analyses of financial reports, budgets, and trends to aid executive decision-making.

Conduct ACH and Share Draft transactions, including necessary returns and adjustments.

Assist in developing and overseeing a reliable cash flow projection process and its reporting.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.

At least two years of relevant experience, ideally within a credit union or banking environment.

Prior experience with ACH and Share Draft transactions is advantageous.

Strong analytical abilities, interpersonal skills, and a high degree of self-motivation are essential.

Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and related applications is necessary.

A background in financial data processing systems is preferred.
