Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the academic and developmental needs of students with disabilities.
  • Deliver effective and engaging instruction that aligns with IEP goals and objectives.
  • Adapt teaching strategies, materials, and assessments to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and adjust instructional approaches as needed.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure the inclusion of students with special needs in all aspects of school life.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, goals, and educational strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records and documentation in compliance with school policies and state regulations.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay informed about current trends and best practices in special education.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • South Carolina state certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and effective instructional strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to advocating for students with special needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with behavior management techniques and positive behavior supports.
  • Additional certifications or endorsements in specialized areas of special education (e.g., autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavioral disorders).
