Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Intake Services and Delinquency Prevention Branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the intake process, ensuring timely and thorough screenings and assessments, and developing and implementing strategies to prevent delinquency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Intake Services and Delinquency Prevention Branch, overseeing the intake process and ensuring timely and thorough screenings and assessments
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategies to prevent delinquency
  • Supervise senior probation officers and administrative support staff
  • Ensure the appropriate and timely screening of all formal truancy referrals, and the assessment and petitioning recommendations of all formally diverted youth referred for delinquent matters
  • Contribute to case initiation, case presentment, case management, and administrative instructions to senior probation officers
  • Identify training programs, orientations, and team building exercises to enhance skills among assigned staff
  • Analyze existing and emerging statutory measures to ensure policies, procedures, and practices that drive the Intake Services and Delinquency Prevention supports day-to-day activities
  • Provide technical assistance to senior management in the development and improvement of policies, standard operating procedures, and practices
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services, Business, or Public Administration
  • Six (6) years of experience in a human/social service program geared toward children, adolescents, and their families
  • Three (3) years of experience managing staff
  • Successful completion of the District of Columbia Courts Management Training Program is equivalent to one year
  • Must not have passed their 37th birthday in the month of appointment to qualify for mandatory law enforcement separation/retirement at age fifty-seven
Benefits

  • Annual leave: four (4) hours biweekly, increasing to six (6) hours biweekly after three years of service, and eight (8) hours biweekly after 15 years of service
  • Sick leave: four (4) hours biweekly, with no limit on accrual
  • Supplemental vision and dental plans, as well as commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month
