Job Overview

On Target Utility Services is seeking a skilled Pole Set Operator to join their team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for the safe operation of a digger derrick truck to complete pole set projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a digger derrick truck to install and remove utility poles in various locations.
  • Ensure the safety of crew members and adhere to construction safety codes and guidelines.
  • Provide training and coaching to less experienced crew members.
  • Procure and use necessary tools and equipment, and perform regular maintenance.
  • Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and work plans.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to meet project requirements and schedules.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including overtime and emergency duty as needed.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
  • High school graduate or equivalent; technical education preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience operating Digger Derrick and installing poles around energized conductors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of utility design, construction, and maintenance, including relevant equipment and safety requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses, certifications, and documents.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and direct less experienced coworkers.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. on an occasional basis and up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions, standing, walking, and working on uneven ground for the full workday.
  • Ability to operate and drive trade-related equipment and vehicles for several hours every day.
  • Ability to see and distinguish colors, and to hear clearly.
