Policy Analyst Job Description

We are a leading public policy research and analysis firm, Capital Point Analytics, that helps investors and companies navigate the complex policy landscape and make informed decisions.

As a Policy Analyst, you will work closely with our senior team members to generate written and verbal content that forecasts U.S. policy outcomes and explains relevant dynamics on Capitol Hill, in the administration, and among stakeholders in Washington, D.C. to a sophisticated client base.

You will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high degree of autonomy, where thoroughness, intellectual rigor, and passion for policy making are valued.

We cover public policy in every sector, with a focus on energy policy and infrastructure. As a Policy Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including:

  • Conducting primary and secondary research on various policy issues.
  • Drafting regular written updates within your portfolio and beyond as needed.
  • Engaging in deep research projects.
  • Preparing for and engaging in client phone calls, presentations, and visits.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Approximately five years of experience in government, a think tank, a trade association, or related role.
  • Experience working on energy policy and infrastructure policy is highly valued, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree from a reputable college/university. Master's degree is valued, but not required.
  • The ability to analyze and form conclusions based upon structured and unstructured data.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills with the ability to formulate informed positions and communicate complex policies to a diverse audience.
  • The capacity to operate independently and without regular oversight and an aptitude to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables.
  • The ability to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting servicing a sophisticated client-base making time-sensitive and high-stakes decisions.
  • Excellent social and interpersonal skills.
  • A demonstrated network of relationships across the energy policy realm/industry is desired. A readiness to network and develop relationships throughout the policy community is required.
  • An interest in business development and entrepreneurship is valued.

We offer a competitive salary range of $90-$125K, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
