The Corporate Finance Analyst plays a crucial role in generating monthly revenue management reports and conducting budget variance analyses across several key performance indicators. This position also aids in the preparation and upkeep of the annual firm revenue budget and forecast, profitability analyses of clients and timekeepers, along with other routine and special reports for distribution as required. The Corporate Finance Analyst frequently collaborates directly with senior management and partners, expected to uphold all firm policies and procedures while representing the department in a professional and positive manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive analysis of production, profitability, and overall financial performance on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Create and disseminate standard and customized reports for Firm management and partners to monitor WIP, AR, billings, and other statistics, including client, matter, and timekeeper profitability, cross-selling, historical trends, and top clients.
- Support the annual revenue budget and forecasting process for practice groups, which includes timekeeper rate setting, headcount analysis, and billing realization review.
- Assist in developing pricing models that are mutually beneficial for the Firm and its clients.
- Review rate exceptions and discounts for all clients and matters, collaborating with Billing Partners to update as necessary.
- Generate routine and complex raw data via SQL for distribution to other internal departments for trending, prospective client RFPs, etc.
- Manage timekeeper responsibilities, including new timekeeper requests, rate reviews, and access to time entry.
- Assist with the implementation of firm-wide initiatives and upgrades.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a financial analysis role within a professional environment; experience in a law firm is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with all levels within an organization.
- Strong critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to articulate thoughts and concepts effectively.
- Ability to manage projects from inception to completion, organizing workflow and utilizing time efficiently.
- Proactive in anticipating work needs and following through with minimal direction, demonstrating initiative.
- Outstanding attention to detail, determination, self-motivation, and resolve.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Elite 3E, SQL, and Power BI is preferred.
- Performance is evaluated based on the employee's knowledge, reliability, technical skills, and ability to produce standard and custom reports in a timely and accurate manner that are actionable.
- Proactivity in swiftly resolving issues and enhancing processes.
- Capability to take ownership of projects and complete them with minimal guidance.
