Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled Program Counselor to join our team. As a Program Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting men and women who come to our organization for assistance with their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and facilitate the intake of eligible participants into our program.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to support participants in achieving their recovery goals.
  • Provide counseling and support services to participants, including group and individual sessions.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and community agencies to ensure a comprehensive approach to participant support.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of participant progress and program activities.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
  • Must complete a background check as required by our Territorial Legal Department.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer skills, proficient in MS office, data entry, mail-merge.
  • Pursuing education in Human Services (social work, psychology, or chemical dependency) ideally with certification in Chemical Dependency Studies or AA/BA in a related field.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate a telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative positions.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
