Job Summary
The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled Program Counselor to join our team. As a Program Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting men and women who come to our organization for assistance with their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and facilitate the intake of eligible participants into our program.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to support participants in achieving their recovery goals.
- Provide counseling and support services to participants, including group and individual sessions.
- Collaborate with other staff members and community agencies to ensure a comprehensive approach to participant support.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of participant progress and program activities.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
- Must complete a background check as required by our Territorial Legal Department.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Computer skills, proficient in MS office, data entry, mail-merge.
- Pursuing education in Human Services (social work, psychology, or chemical dependency) ideally with certification in Chemical Dependency Studies or AA/BA in a related field.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to operate a telephone.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative positions.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
