Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Specialist to join our Complex Claims Unit - Construction (CCU-CD) team. As a Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for managing complex construction defect claims, providing expert analysis and recommendations to leadership, and developing effective strategies for resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage complex construction defect claims, including review and analysis of multiple policies and coverage parts
  • Develop and articulate clear, concise, and accurate coverage positions
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support claims
  • Effectively manage litigation and counsel, including litigation planning and budgeting
  • Develop complex coverage, liability, and damage assessments and persuasively articulate them to leadership
  • Provide detailed recommendations to leadership and pursue coverage and liability risk transfer against other liable parties and insurance carriers
Requirements
  • 5+ years of construction defect claim handling experience
  • Experience handling complex construction defect coverage and liability issues on general liability and WRAP policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to present in a roundtable setting with a well-reasoned and analytical evaluation
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of construction defect claim handling experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, J.D. or CRIS designation a plus
  • Experience in handling contractor professional and protective indemnity policies
  • Knowledge of surety, bond, and builders risk policies
