Front Desk Attendant

The Downtown Y is seeking a customer-service oriented individual to join our Front Desk team. Our front desk staff deliver excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants, responding to their needs and promoting memberships and programs.

A Day as a Front Desk Staff:
  • Provide exceptional service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty on weekends, ensuring the smooth operation of the front desk.
  • Greet members and visitors in a positive and professional manner, representing the YMCA with pride.
  • Ensure the security of the facility by scanning all members and enforcing policy regarding visitors.
  • Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members, selling memberships and promoting programs.
  • Accurately conduct financial transactions for membership and program fees, maintaining accountability for all cash collected during shift.
  • Build relationships with members, helping them connect with one another and the YMCA.
  • Handle and resolve membership concerns, informing the supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Apply all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous customer service, sales, or related experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform other physical aspects of the job, including stooping and bending.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone, including speaking and hearing.
