Nursing Education Instructor

A full-time Nursing Education Instructor is tasked with providing instruction across various modalities, including online, in-person, and video conferencing, in the nursing discipline. Instruction may occur at multiple locations, including clinical partner facilities or designated temporary sites. Instructors also play a crucial role in academic advising and fostering student success. Regular use of technology tools is essential for effective communication and support of students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver educational content in diverse formats and assess student comprehension.
2. Create and maintain a learning-friendly environment.
3. Prepare course materials and, when applicable, laboratory resources.
4. Engage actively in curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation.
5. Provide academic guidance to students, focusing on retention and achievement.
6. Stay updated in the field through relevant professional development.
7. Participate in divisional and institutional committees.
8. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and community stakeholders.
9. Contribute to the realization of program and institutional goals.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Involve in institutional and community initiatives that align with the institution's mission.
2. Adhere to institutional policies and guidelines.
3. Pursue ongoing professional growth.
4. Leverage technology to enhance instructional methods and services.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
2. Current BLS/AHA CPR certification or higher (ACLS/PALS preferred).
3. Valid RN License in Tennessee (or eligibility for licensure).
4. Minimum of three years of recent clinical experience with diverse populations.
5. Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
6. Experience in higher education is advantageous; Doctorate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics:

The ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English, as well as in the language of instruction; experience in delivering instruction through various methods; capability to engage with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body; proficiency in teamwork and collaboration with colleagues and community members.

Working Conditions:

Instructors are expected to be available for both daytime and evening classes and may be assigned to various centers or sites. Normal classroom activities involve sitting and moving, along with the ability to handle audiovisual equipment in different settings.

Supervision:

Oversight of work-study students.
