Job Overview

Position Title: Child Transport Specialist
Department: Family Wellness
Reports To: Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: Starting at $20.19 per hour

Position Summary: Responsible for operating a government vehicle to safely transport children to and from the wellness center and medical appointments as required.

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, the individual must competently perform the following duties:

  • Ensure all passengers utilize seatbelts.
  • Utilize appropriate car seats for children under 8 years of age or under 4 feet 9 inches tall.
  • Refrain from using alcohol, drugs, or any substances that may impair driving abilities.
  • Comply with California's Wireless Communications Device Law.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Maintain established transportation schedules as directed by the Assistant Program Director.
  • Share location updates via text with the Program Director during work hours.
  • Maintain privacy by turning off work cell phones after hours.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures diligently.
  • Refrain from using government vehicles for personal purposes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Role

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Competence in basic arithmetic operations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Certificates and Licenses

Required:

  • A valid California driver's license.
  • No more than one preventable loss in the last two years.
  • No major preventable accidents in the last five years.
  • No more than two moving violations in the past two years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience working with children (1+ years).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand and move around. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
